I'm old but I'm not a dinosaur

Firstly, what a cracking little Lego set this was to build and looks great in its spot.  Got it reduced in Smyths last week for €10.... cant go wrong at that price.  I always find Lego very therapeutic, more so now then ever as I find following the instructions quite grounding and it helps me focus. Anyway onto my point......

Lately I'm feeling like I'm a bit of dinosaur when its coming to finding my next job.  I have been applying for numerous roles, but things have definitely changed since I last looked for work some nearly 13 years ago.  My kids have explained ghosting to me and that's what happens now with companies, you apply and you may never hear from them again....its not all of them but a large majority.  I do feel like 12-15 years ago you always heard back from applications.

AI has also taken over a lot of the process in recruiting so any CV or letter needs to be perfect, the human element has been removed and so its harder to get in the door to even talk to a person.  Its very much a trial and error getting the CV just perfect.  Being honest if redundancy hadn't of happened, I may never have left the company I was in, and again I now know part of that is familiarity , and with ADHD not liking change so in one way it was a blessing.

Companies often have in the application process if you want to disclose any conditions etc. so if you get to the next stage or get a job there can be allowances,  but Id like them to actually look at the first step the application process, and understand that AI doesn't show any allowance to a CV or letter that may have been done by someone with a condition- so the bias is there early-now I'm lucky that I don't feel mine are affected by my ADHD but I am affected by not hearing back and I ruminate- I blame my RSD. I do feel for people who maybe are in the early stages of diagnosis or like I was just feel like they are over thinkers and take it more to heart then I do.

So I'm not a dinosaur and I'm not out of touch but just maybe by relying on automated processes, businesses are missing the key element to hiring, who actually is the person applying, not a CV or letter but.........THE PERSON.

With my dodgy knees I'm definitely more DinoSore than dinosaur
